Summary : Bastle and barn at Wester Old Town. The bastle was built in the late 16th/early 17th century, remodelled circa 1700 and partly rebuilt in 1984. It is 2 storeyed and built of stone rubble with a 20th century metal roof. The barn is dated 1821, and is also of rubble stone but with a stone slate roof.

Old Town, where there are vestiges of several ancient pele-houses.(2)

NY 81435793 Old Town is a farmhouse with out-building which incorporates the remains of a Defended House. It is of two storeys with walls of rough dressed stone on strong foundations.

Similar Defended Houses exist at Gatehouses, (NY 788890) and were dated 'Tudor'. (3)
