More information : Medieval / post medieval ridge and furrow ploughing in the parish of Siddington is visible as earthworks, soilmarks and cropmarks centred at approximately SJ 844 711 on aerial photography. Much of the ploughing surviving as earthworks on historic photography appears to have been levelled by the latest 2010 vertical imagery.
The ridge and furrow is delineated or enclosed in places by contemporary or later field boundaries (UIDs 1602141, 1602157, 1602159, 1602165, 1602171 and 1602663). It also overlies a network of hollow ways (UID 1602139) and two platforms associated with the medieval settlement of Capesthorne (UID 76472) but appears to respect a Bronze Age barrow (UID 76436) (1-7). |
