DESCRIPTION + /

A Second World War playing field and associated buildings can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1945. This playing field, marked out as a football pitch was situated between two military camps or hostels built as a result of the wartime use of the nearby underground quarries for ammunition storage, factories or military headquarters (1579814 and 1579817). No trace of this site could be seen on the 2009 air photos. (1-2)
