Summary : A rectilinear arrangement of parchmarks and a pair of parallel cropmarks are visible on air photos. The parchmarks may indicate the presence of a Roman villa and the parallel linear part of its outer boundary or compound.
More information : A rectilinear arrangement of parchmarks and a pair of parallel cropmarks are visible on air photos to the west of Scalibar Farm at SE3703 5436. The parchmarks may indicate the presence of a Roman villa, they indicate a rectangular structure measuring 40x13m with internal divisions. The parallel ditches lie approximately 75m to the west. They are oriented near north to south, are visible over a distance of just 35m and lie 3m apart. They may be part of an outer boundary or compound around the villa structure. (1-2)
