Summary : Coffer Dam at Grimsby Dock. A dam built in 1846'48 to complete sea defences to exclude tide from the site of the Royal Dock so that the locks and dock basin could be built. Most of the dam was removed in 1852 but the western end can still be seen, clearly showing the method of its construction.
