Summary : The site of Roman milecastle 43 on Hadrian's Wall. The foundations were found during excavation in 1939 to underlie the fort wall and rampart of Aesica between its north gate and north-west angle, though totally removed behind them. It was a short-axis milecastle with type I gates. There are no visible remains.

[NY 7035 6684] The foundations of milecastle 43 were found, during excavation in 1939, to underlie the fort wall and rampart of Aesica between its N gate and N.W. angle, though totally removed behind them. It was a short-axis milecastle with type I gates. (2)
