TURRET 41A

DESCRIPTION + /

The site of Roman turret 41A, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. It is located 501 yards from turret 41B, and was excavated in 1912. It was found to have a doorway on the east side of the south wall and to have been dismantled and the Wall built across it in the Severan Period. The turret was consolidated in 1972-3 and is 0.2 metres high.
