TURRET 40B

DESCRIPTION + /

The approximate site of Roman turret 40B, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. There are no visible remains. The excavation in 1946 found the turret to be 19 feet wide internally, its unusual size was thought to be because of the wide prospects the turret commands.
