Summary : A post medieval field boundary is visible as earthworks on air photographs and lidar. The field boundary, consisting of banks and ditches, runs along a northwest-southeast alignment and overlies the north-eastern rampart of Whitley Castle Roman fort. The feature appears to be extant on the latest 2009 lidar.
More information : A post medieval field boundary is visible as earthworks on air photographs and lidar, at NY 6944 4880. The field boundary, consisting of banks and ditches, runs along a northwest-southeast alignment and overlies the north-eastern rampart of Whitley Castle Roman fort (UID 13725). It may be associated with a field boundary, of similar form, to the south (UID 1530730). The feature appears to be extant on the latest 2009 lidar. (1-2)
