MONUMENT NO. 1517772

DESCRIPTION + /

A Roman villa is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The interior was later occupied by a Roman villa in the first century AD. This site was formerly discussed in 117102. The villa was identified from patches of limestone blocks and other building debris and pottery. The villa was altered and extended in the 2nd century when wings were added to its plan. A major fire before the end of the 3rd century seems to have caused the abandonment of the structure. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the Cotswolds Hills National Mapping Programme.
