Summary : Nissen Hut within the former Gatebeck Low Gunpowder Works (UID 1086908), dating either from WW2 use of the disused factory by Army Engineers (1516753) or later use of the site for Civil Defence Training (1516762). Now used as a Caravan Park shop.
More information : SD 54473 85405 (FCE). A six-bay, 16-foot span Nissen Hut with original dormer window stands within the former Gatebeck Low Gunpowder Works (SD 58 NW 34); it dates either from WW2 when the disused factory was requisitioned by Army Engineers or post-war use of the site for Civil Defence Training (see SD 58 NW 97 and 99). The hut is now used by the Caravan Park that occupies the site as a shop.
