Summary : Offices in use 1851-1936, part of a group of four surviving buildings at the entrance to Gatebeck Low Gunpowder Works. Now converted to domestic accommodation and known as Millbrook Cottage.
More information : SD 5435 8537 (FCE). Office, part of a group of four original buildings at the entrance to Gatebeck Low Gunpowder Works (SD 58 NW 34). The building is first documented on the 1st edition OS map of 1858, and presumably therefore dates from the opening of the gunpowder works in 1851-2. It is recorded as an office in both 1898 and 1923. The works closed in 1936, and the building has since been extended and heavily adapted to domestic accommodation known as Millbrook Cottage.
