More information : In 1895 the firm of W H Wakefield & Co constructed a reservoir across the Fall Beck c 1.5km east of their gunpowder works at Gatebeck (SD 58 NW 34) in order to supply pressurised water for hydraulic power to the factory and drinking water to Gatebeck and Endmoor villages (1a). This is presumably Gatebeck Reservoir (NAT) shown centred at SD 5646 8619 (1b). (1)
