ANCHOR STREET, PHASES I & II

Nineteen seven-storey blocks and fourteen six-storey blocks, all with deck access, built as part of a public housing development in the Hunslet Green area. The seven-storey blocks contained a total of 545 dwellings. The six-storey blocks contained a total of 286 dwellings. The YDG 'Housing Mark I' industrialised building system of heavy pre-fabrication in concrete cross wall structure, was used for construction. Construction was approved by committee in 1968. All of the blocks are now demolished.
