Summary : An irregular-shaped artificial pond and an outer moat at London Zoo. This is open of the earliest features within the Zoo and was designed by Decimus Burton in 1832 when he was the Zoo's architect. It was enlarged in 1852 and altered later in 1961 and 1976. The pond measures 40 metres by 50 metres but the south side has been incorporated into the New Lion Terraces (Monument HOB UID 1170213). The moat and ponds have concrete linings. The enclosure is used for pelicans, coots and ducks |
