| Summary : The Animal Hospital and Pathology Laboratory at London Zoo was constructed in 1955-56 as the Sanatorium and Quarantine Station, replacing the existing Sanatorium which was situated to the northeast of the Bird House. The building was designed by Franz Stengelhofen when he was the Zoo's architect and is a two storey, brick built block. The ground floor contains offices, an operating theatre, X-ray room, and a food operation area. Animal dens are present along the west and south sides. A walled yard outside contains outdoor cages.
