Summary : Two sixteen-storey tower blocks built as a public housing development, mostly for aged persons, in Hurdsfield. The blocks contain 184 dwellings in total. Construction was approved by committee in 1963.
More information : The blocks were constructed for Macclesfield Municipal Borough Council. (1) The Primary and Alternate addresses are the individual addresses of each block; both are current and of equal status. The Alternate Name is the name that was given to the contract for the development. John Laing Construction Ltd.'s tender for the contract was £457,895. (2) When originally constructed, one of the blocks was heated by gas, the other by electricity. (3)
