More information : Found during field investigation at NT 91800822 a raised oval enclosure 10.5m NNW/SSE by 7.5m between the centres of a turf-covered stone wall about 1.5m wide, with a possible entrance in the NE. What appears to be an eccentrically placed internal platform about 4.0m diameter has probably been caused by stone grubbing or sheep walk (see enlarged sketch). Superficially the enclosure appears to be a hut circle, but it may be no more than a small 'pound' associated with the medieval Clennell Street which now encroaches upon the SW arc. (1) NT918082: The small enclosure, probably a ring ditch, at Uplaw has been postulated as an unusual form of cairn. Surveyed at 1:200. (2)
NT 9180 0825. Round cairn 160m NE of Hosedon Linn. Scheduled RSM No 25023. The remains of a round cairn of prehistoric date and unusual form; it has a raised central platform 4m in diameter surrounded by a slightly scooped ditch 3m across. An outer stone ring 0.3m high and 1.5m wide surrounds the whole. The NW part of the cairn has been encroached upon by Clennell Street. (3)
