Summary : A twenty-storey slab block of public housing built as part of the Shopping and Neighbourhood Centre redevelopment scheme. The block contains 159 dwellings in total, and projects out of the Shopping Centre, which is only a few storeys in height. Construction was approved by committee in 1964.
More information : The block was commissioned by Newcastle-upon-Tyne County Borough Council. The Alternate Name is the name that was given to the contract for the development. (1)

Construction was approved on 2nd October 1964. Gilbert-Ash Northern Ltd.'s tender was £1,064,000. This is thought to have been for the entire Shopping and Neighbourhood Centre including the tower block. (2)
