More information : A ring ditch located south-southeast of the Mount Pleasant henge enclosure, one of several recorded for the first time during analysis of aerial photographs in 2004-5. Following the simple nomenclature used in the RCHME inventory and existing monument records, the barrow is designated 'H'.
Located at SY 71208971, it measures circa 13 metres in maximum internal diameter. It forms part of a group of three ring ditches, all of a broadly similar size, and forming a more-or-less linear arrangement to the SSE of the henge. 'H' is the middle one of the three. There is a gap of just 3.5 metres between the ring ditch of 'H' and that of 'G' (SY 78 NW 98) to the north. SImilarly, ring ditch 'I' (SY 78 NW 100) is just 4 metres to the southeast of 'H'. All three of these ring ditches were first photographed by Francesca Radcliffe in 1996. (1, 2) |
