Summary : A Second World War slit trench, air raid shelter or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 as an earthwork, though it has subsequently been levelled on aerial photographs taken in 1960. The slit trench is defined by a narrow linear ditch with flanking spoil heaps. It is C shaped, with the open side and larger spoil heap facing west.
More information : A Second World War slit trench, air raid shelter or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 as an earthwork, though it has subsequently been levelled on aerial photographs taken in 1960. The site is centred on ST 3532 5980 and extends over an area which measures 17 metres north-south and 15 metres east-west. The slit trench is defined by a narrow linear ditch with flanking spoil heaps. It is C shaped, with the open side and larger spoil heap facing west (1-3).
