More information : A Second World War slit trench, air raid shelter or gun emplacement is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 as an earthwork, though it has subsequently been levelled on aerial photographs taken in 1948 and is visible as a crop mark. The site is centred on ST 3540 5981 and extends over an area which measures 14 metres north-south and 8 metres east-west. The slit trench is defined by a narrow linear ditch with flanking spoil heaps. It is a broad U in shape, with the open side and larger spoil heap facing west (1-3). |
