Summary : The remains of the Blackfriars monastery were purchased by a Huguenot surgeon, Peter de la Pierre, who permitted their use by a Baptist church. A new meeting-house and cottage were built at the south-west end of the surviving Mediaeval hall with ground to the south for a burial ground. It was closed in 1913. The walls are of brickwork with tall round-arched windows to the sides.
