Summary : Four Second World War Nissen huts are visible as extant buildings on aerial photographs. They are located to the north and south of Bow Bridge on Moor Lane crossing the Cross Rhyne on the southern boundary of RAF Weston-Super-Mare. Their function is not clear but they appear to be associated either with the two pillboxes (ST35NW 41, 42) and gun emplacement (ST35NW 71) or the aircraft hangar adjacent (ST35NW 124). Only one Nissen hut remains but in a ruined state on aerial photographs taken in 1989. |
More information : Four Second World War Nissen huts are visible as extant buildings on aerial photographs. They are located to the north and south of Bow Bridge on Moor Lane crossing the Cross Rhyne on the southern boundary of RAF Weston-Super-Mare. The Nissen Huts are centred at ST 3467 5965, ST 3468 5965, ST 3470 5964 and ST 3469 5959. Their function is not clear but they appear to be associated with two pillboxes (ST35NW 41/HOB UID 1427625; ST35NW 42/HOB UID 1427626), a hardened gun post (ST35NW 71/HOB UID 1427647) and an aircraft hangar adjacent (ST35NW 124/HOB UID 1491242).
