More information : An arc of barbed wire is visible as a structure on historic air photographs. No trace of this feature is visible on more recent air photographs at SE2476 9620. This obstruction flanks the A1 close to former RAF Catterick (UID 1391330) and is likely to indicate the location of an unseen pill box or other military building.
This was probably part of a system of defences that encircled RAF Catterick UID1391330 (see also UIDs 1485653, 1485675, 1486058, 1486086 and 1486088). (1-2)
