Summary : Second World War Type 22 pillbox South of Earls Close on the north-west side of Boscombe Down airfield. This is one of fourteen pillboxes built to defend the airfield, of which ten survive. It differed from the normal Type 22 pillbox in that it was not provided with an anti-ricochet wall. |
