Summary : Barrow 14. A Bronze Age ditched bowl barrow situated 240 metres east of Sevenbarrows House, forming part of the Lambourn Seven barrow cemetery. The barrow, known as Barrow 14 by Case, survives as an earthwork 35 metres in diameter and 2 metres high. The ditch has a maximum width of 3 metres and depth of 0.5 metres. A slight hollow in the top of the mound suggests the site was partially excavated, probably in the 19th century. |
More information : Group centred SU 328 828] Seven Barrows [G.T.] Tumulus [G.T] six times Tumulus [G.T] (sites of) (1) This barrow is one of thirty six barrows listed by Case (2) and is listed as Barrow 14. [see plan AO/LP/63/105 for numbering and siting]. Scheduled (2-3) The barrow (Barrow 14) has been identified on the ground and surveyed at 1:2500. SU 3269 8285, ditched bowl barrow, height of mound is 2.0 metres and the depth of the ditch is 0.4 metres. Top of mound apparently robbed. (4)
