Summary : The site of a Second World War type 22 concrete pillbox, thin-walled with a hexagonal plan. There are embrasures on each side of the pillbox but no sign of an anti ricochet wall. It is located on the north-east side of Stapleford Aerodrome.
More information : Type 22 pillbox, thin walled and follows hexagonal plan. However, no wall is pierced by an entrance. A close inspection of the walls indicated that the entrance was at ground level. External traces have now been covered. Internal hatch covered entrance, lowered when manned to allow use of embrasure. There are embrasures on each side of the pillbox but no sign of an anti ricochet wall.
