Summary : The station headquarters at RAF Northolt, built in 1932. The building has two storeys and is built of brick with a slate roof. It has a central entrance bay which is set slightly forward. The central bay is pedimented in contast to the rest of the building this bay has three segmental arched window openings at first floor level, over the doorway, which has stone flanking colums and a flat hood. The doorway is flanked by similar windows. The other bays on either sie of the central bay have ranges of three segmental headed windows on each floor. The actual windows themselves may be late 20th century alterations. In front of the building is a flag pole. The station headquarters is known as Building 28 in the RAF Northolt site internal numbering system. |
More information : The station headquarters at RAF Northolt was built in 1932. An English Heritage report of May 2003 found that the building had ben too altered to merit recommendation for Listed Building status, but suggested that the "distinctive building" be preserved in situ as part of a wider management policy for the site.
