Summary : A World War Two type 22 pillbox at North Weald Airfield, situated near the club house of the restored portion of the site known as "The Squadron" The hexagonal concrete pillbox was probably built in 1940-1941. The airfield is considered to be a key site partly because of its well preseved defensive landscape, of which this pillbox forms a part.
More information : A World War Two type 22 pillbox at North Weald Airfield, North Weald Bassett, Essex, TL 4867 0468 situated near the club house of the restored portion of the site known as "The Squadron". It has been painted with a camouflage pattern. The construction date of the pillbox is suggested to be between 1940-1941. (1)
