Turret 47A located by exploratory excavation (3) in 1912, the normal distance west of milecastle 47 (2). (2-3)

There are no surface indications of this turret, the site of which falls in a pasture field. (4)

There are no surface traces at the measured distance from the neighbouring milecastle and turret at NY 6441 6615, which is 7-11m W of the OS position. The precise location cannot be verified. (5)
