More information : A Pickett-Hamilton Fort noted on the Defence of Britain Database at the former RAF Kenley, Coulsdon, Croydon, TQ 3316 5835. The record suggests that it was built after built after May 1941 as part of the airfield's World War Two defences. It is made from concrete and steel. It is close (6 metres distant) to one of the runways off Hayes Lane. When visited in 1998 it was in good condition, and was considered to be potentially still operable at that date. (1) |
