Bundington

Hob Uid: 1396863
Location :
Northumberland
Berwick-upon-Tweed
Grid Ref : NT9920053800
Summary : In 1333 Edward Balloil besieged Berwick before the town surrendered to him. Documentary evidence has been found identifying the siege camp as being Bundington, identified as Bondington, which is to the north of the present Castle Terrace to the north-west of Berwick Castle. Comparison with contemporary accounts of siege camps suggests that these often took the form a large self-contained settlement, and substantial remains probably exist beneath the surface.
