Summary : A military airfield opened in 1937, used in the Second World War, now a civil airport. During the Second World War, the airfield was equipped with three asphalt runways and a variety of aircraft hangars including Blister aircraft hangars. In 1940 during the Battle of Britain it was used by 213 , 87 and 601 Squadrons of 10 Group Fighter Command. The site has been subsequently redeveloped as Exeter International Airport. |
