More information : Former RAF Catterick (Marne Barracks) "Officers Mess and Quarters". An English Heritage report made in May 2003 described this building as "an externally complete example of the officers' mess design which characterised the post-1934 expansion of the RAF, surviving on a key site and representing an example of the work of A Bulloch, the Air Ministry architect whose neo-Georgian and carefully proportioned designs were a direct consequence of consultsation with the Royal fine Arts Commission". It was built in 1935. The report suggests that the building be recommended for consideration for possible future Listed Building Status at Grade II. (1) |
