Summary : A small mound was excavated by Bateman in the 1860's but nothing was found. It lies to the North-East of, and near to the church. It is suggested that it was a motte and the site of the original manor of Morley before it moved to the East of the church (SK34SE6).
More information : A mound North-East of and near the church at Morley was excavated by Bateman in the 1860s, who thought it to be a barrow, but nothing was found. It could be the original site of the manor of Morley. Shown on the OS Derbyshire Sheet L.3. (1)
