MILECASTLE 46

DESCRIPTION + /

The site of milecastle 46, part of the defences on Hadrian's Wall. The milecastle survives as a scarp with a maximum height of 0.3m, no walling is visible. The Wall Ditch to the north is broken down and silted, and there is no certain causeway; the glacis is interrupted. The platform of the milecastle is visible as an earthwork on air photographs.
