HMS SWALLOW

ALTERNATIVE NAME:  HMT SWALLOW, SWALLOW

1918 wreck of British trawler which foundered off Whitby following collision, while on war patrol as a minesweeper. Constructed in 1897 of steel, she was a steamer, and had originally been a fishing vessel, hired to the Admiralty on the outbreak of war. OV 00 NW 4 was formerly thought to be the possible remains of this vessel, but this is now regarded as the bow section of the WOODSTOCK.
