Summary : Hall recorded in a conveyance of about 1660, pulled down in 1820. Two fragments of walling remain with no associated earthworks. The only remaining tower collapsed in 1866. A manor is recorded at Haresceugh in the 12th century, so the hall and tower may have had Mediaeval origins. |

The remains of Haresceugh Castle consist of part of a rectangular building and a massive wall. The manor of Haresceugh is mentioned in the 12th century, and a Hall is recorded in a conveyance of Charles II's time. The building is said to have been pulled down since 1820. (2) The remains are in very poor condition, consisting of two fragments of walling, the largest being 10m long and approx 5.0m high with a smaller wall at right angles to it. There are no associated earthworks. See photograph. (3)
