More information : [NY 684204] Inscription, 16-1/2 X 9-1/2 in. (1/8), perhaps from a tombstone, seen by Horsley before 1732 built into the bridge at Appleby; probably brought from Kirkby Thore, which lies 4 miles to the north-west. Taken out of the bridge during repairs in 1847, and seen by Bruce when in the possession of John Bell, of Appleby. Now lost. Sought in vain by R. P. W., 1945. Reproduced from Bruce.
