Summary : A small cairn on the ridge crest between Spanish Lake and Hen Tor Brook. Apparently undisturbed, it measures 4.0m in diameter and 0.3m high. Some stones protrude through the turf covering of the mound. The Bronze Age cairn, recorded by previous authorities, is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency 1m Lidar data flown in 2019 and 2021 Historic England orthomosaic aerial photography. The site was mapped from aerial sources in 2023 during the Historic England Dartmoor-Plym project.
More information : SX 58146497. A small cairn on the ridge crest between Spanish Lake and Hen Tor Brook. Apparently undisturbed, it measures 4.0m in diameter and 0.3m high. There is no evidence to suggest the presence of a cist or retaining kerb though some stones do protrude through the turf covering of the mound. (1) The Bronze Age cairn, recorded by previous authorities, is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency 1m Lidar data flown in 2019 and 2021 Historic England orthomosaic aerial photography. The site was mapped from aerial sources in 2023 during the Historic England Dartmoor-Plym project. It is centred on SX 58142 64967. The cairn mound measures approximately 4.6m in diameter.
