| Summary : Two confluent bowl barrows, listed by Grinsell as Wilcot 4, and part of the Gopher Wood barrow group (SU 16 SW 17). Ordnance Survey field investigation in 1974 recorded a mound 1 metre high surrounded by a ditch 0.4 metres deep and 17 metres in overall diameter, overlain on its south side by another mound 7 metres across and 0.4 metres high. |

Wilcot 4. Probably 2 confluent barrows. (1)
SU 13986396. A bowl barrow 1.0m high with a ditch 0.4m deep is 17.0m overall diameter. A smaller barrow 7.0 metres across and 0.4m high overlies the barrow in the S. (2)
Colt Hoare referred to two barrows in this group being opened by Cunnington (circa 1800?), but did not give details as to which two. See SU 16 SW 17 for details. (3) |
