| Summary : A bowl barrow at Gopher Wood, part of a barrow cemetery (see SU 16 SW 17). Listed by Grinsell as Wilcot 2, Ordnance Survey field investigation in 1974 recorded it as a mound 1.6 metres high surrounded by a ditch 0.4 metres in diameter and 17 metres in diameter. There is no definite record of any excavation but see SU 16 SW 17. |

Wilcot 2. SU 13956938. Bowl barrow 10 paces in diameter and 3 feet high. (1)
SU 13956396. A bowl barrow 1.6m high with a ditch 0.5m deep and an overall diameter of 15.00m. It overlies the south side of Wilcot 1 (SU 16 SW 17). (2)
Cunnington dug into 2 bowl barrows in the Gopher Wood group, but did not specify which. See SU 16 SW 17 for details of finds. (3) |
