Summary : The Benedictine priory for 3 to 4 monks, with 3 secular chaplains and a deacon serving in the parish church of St Nicholas, was founded before 1101, and at one time the establishment consisted of a prior, 8 monks, 3 chaplains, a deacon and 2 clerks. It was dissolved in 1539. Today remains of the Great Hall of circa 1300 are part of Priory School. Some original windows remain but the tracery is mainly new. The building was restored in 1835.

1539. Today remains of the Great Hall built of knapped flint with stone dressing circa 1300 are part of Priory School. Some original windows remain but the tracery is mainly new. The building was restored in 1835 by J.H Hakewill. (2,3)
