The 24ft wide Guard Tower is still extant. Its base has been
incorporated in the buildings fronting the Plain on the inner side of the wall. (For a general history of the Medieval Town Wall, see

Guard Tower (name confirmed) is generally as described. Redevelopment has left this tower fully exposed on the outside, and the interior has been filled in to the level of a raised pedestrian precinct. The upper inner tower remains fully exposed. Ground photographs.
