More information : `The AURORA, Dixon, from Leverpool to London, with coals, struck on some sunken rocks near the Scilly Islands, was got off into St. Hellens Gup [sic], where she sunk; it is hoped part of the materials and cargo will be saved.' (1)
Vessel struck a sunken rock off Land's End, got as far as the Scillies, but sank after reaching St. Helen's Gap. After most of her cargo had been dumped overboard and her materials salvaged, she was eventually refloated and saved. (2)
