Summary : Original site of the Carmelite Friary in Oxford, founded in 1256, on the West side of Stockwell Street in St George's parish. The site lay approximately 100m to the West of their later site at Beaumont Palace, to which they moved in 1317. The buildings were then used by the Benedictines as a theological college, Gloucester College, until the Dissolution. (see SP50NW110 for the later history of the site).
