More information : SX 55297472. A small heavily disturbed cairn lies on the edge of the Merrivale Guardianship Area approximately 40m SSW of the Merrivale double stone rows. It exists as a stoney area measuring 3.5m N to S by 4.1m with an amorphous mound on its W edge. There is no ground evidence to suggest the previous form of this feature. A similarly disturbed cairn (SX 57 SE 178) lies 22m to the NW. (1)
The Bronze Age cairn was recorded as an earthwork on 2021 Historic England orthomosaic aerial photography and visualisations of a Digital Elevation Model derived from the orthomosaic. It comprises a small mound about 4.9m in diameter, standing at SX 55290 74718 some 42.6m to the south-west of the west end of the Merrivale southern stone row. The site was mapped from aerial sources in 2023 during the Historic England Dartmoor-Plym project. (2-3)
