MONUMENT NO. 1308089

DESCRIPTION + /

Wigmore village was a temporary location of what later became Wigmore Priory, (SO47SW9). After moving to Eye, (SO46NW52), the monks moved to Wigmore village and in turn abandoned that site for `Beodune, (probably Byton, SO36SE27). This occurred at sometime between 1131 and 1179, but the duration of the stay, and the type of structures erected by the monks are unkown.
