Location :
Wiltshire
Ogbourne St. Andrew
Grid Ref : SU1635073050
Summary : A saucer barrow, designated Ogbourne St Andrew 8a by Grinsell and others. It was dug into in 1879 by H Cunnington and AC Smith, who found a primary cremation in a circular pit 2.5 feet in diameter and 10 inches deep. Beaker sherds were found in the body of the mound. In 1974, the Ordnance Survey noted that the only surviving surface traces of the barrow were "vestiges of a mound 0.2 metres high". This barrow was originally recorded as part of SU 17 SE 37. That record should be consulted for additional sources and further information.
